"Parents of children with the spastic form of Cerebral Palsy in the UK are not able to help save them from pain and discomfort because this operation "Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy" is not being widely used in the UK. Parents are now taking drastic measures to take their children to America for this operation costing over £40k.

Parents who now know about this operation are finding sometimes getting help from doctors, physiotherapists or the NHS to be non-existent.

This has to change. Parents should be told of all the options available to them in order to help their children and not be kept in the dark.

We need people like Dr Park in the UK who are willing to help children with Cerebral Palsy and we also need the government to help fund bring SDR to the UK permanently."  (Quote from the petition website).

In recognition of these problems a petition to help develop this operation in the UK has been set up on the official No 10 petition site.

If you would like to support this petition please visit http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/Parents-4-SDR/  and sign the petition. Thank you.
